Sabitry Halder

Sabitry Halder (TLMKO/08/L/140) a 51 years female came to our hospital on 01/03/2008 with severe ENLs and oozing ulcers (feet) 1 year. Her family members did not have any idea that she was suffering from leprosy so she did not take any medicine for leprosy.

After the routine test she was diagnosed as having leprosy. Her treatment was started in our hospital and sometimes she was also admitted for treatment of reactions. During her stay all the cost of treatment was borne by our hospital. She was also given MCR footwear as she was also having insensate feet.

She was also given proper health education and as a result till date she did not suffer from any planter ulcers.

During the course of the treatment she did not develop any deformities but she developed cataract if both eyes. The immediate effect due this was that of difficulty & inability to carry out her day to day activities like doing household work. She became dependent on her sons for her daily activities.

In our hospital, she first underwent cataract surgery. The outcome of the surgery was very good. Now she is able to carry out her daily activities with ease, but she still suffers from occasional ENLs.
